Meet Senior Director Grey Waletich

It’s fortunate that Grey Waletich is unafraid of a heavy lift. As Senior Director of Built Environment, Grey oversees each program location move, including two right now: Welcome Village’s move to the Elyria-Swansea neighborhood and the Native American-Inclusive Safe Outdoor Space’s move to the Montbello neighborhood. Tell us about your work.

I work with a fantastic team to design and build CVC’s Tiny Home Villages and Safe Outdoor Spaces. I get to work with on-site staff and residents, architects, engineers, contractors, the City and County of Denver, and hundreds of volunteers each year to physically relocate CVC sites.

How long have you worked for CVC?

Two months, but I’ve had the great opportunity to work alongside CVC for the past 2½ years to develop the Safe Outdoor Space model with my previous employer Radian, a Denver-based nonprofit architecture, and urban planning group.

What does a day at work look like for you?

Each day is totally unique. Some days I’m putting together drawings for a city permit application for a new Safe Outdoor Space. On other days, lately, I may be working with our site maintenance team to winterize our sites.

What do you like about working at CVC?

I love working with such a passionate group of people. We’re doing something super innovative, and it couldn’t happen without visionaries like the CVC team, partners, and the community.

What else do you want to share?

I’d like to spread the word about our volunteer opportunities! CVC’s work wouldn’t be possible without our strong community of volunteers. We’re building a new Safe Outdoor Space in November and we still have tons of opportunities for individuals or groups to pick up a power tool (or a paintbrush) to make that happen. We welcome everyone’s participation.
